cold spring, part II

February 21, 2012

cold spring, new york: quaint, small town on the hudson where we found some large sticks, skipped rocks, drank some beers, shared stories and got out of the city for a saturday.

special thanks to naomi who stole the camera for a bit and snapped a of the couple shots below.

special, special thanks to the waiter at The Depot who suggested we order hot wings. right.on.target.

#nyfw

February 16, 2012

for those twitter trendy people, #nyfw stands for new york fashion week. the final shows wrap up today and will be moving on to london, but i got the chance to see a gorgeous show yesterday – j mendel (ohh la la).

fashion week is quite the circus. you have divas and divos running around, stylists, editors, important fashion execs, people who think they are important fashion execs, bloggers, photographers, students…the list goes on. i was just happy to sit pretty in a seat and view it all. amongst the chaos and swarms of people, there comes a moment when everyone has to sit down, be quiet and watch the show. that was my favorite part. just seeing the models (who i have decided are other worldly creatures) strut down the runway in luxurious furs, silks, satins, towering heels, wavy hair…swoon. i remembered why i really just love fashion for fashion’s sake. it may be an entirely gauche display of something unrealistic, but that is what makes it a fantasy world and so fantastic. a girl can dream.

‘behind the scenes’ looks can be found here.

and then for a bit more informal viewing, if you will, see below!

save the date

February 14, 2012

i was extremely flattered when my friend julia asked me to take her “save the date” pictures this past fall. and then i was excited. and then…a bit nervous.

after deciding that the perfect setting was central park with all of the autumn leaves and gorgeous weather, we selected a date and met one saturday. george (her fiancee) and julia looked stunning in their fancy attire and were (i have to say) the best looking couple in the park that day. it helped make my job easier!

after multiple requests on my part – (“george, hold her hand!” “julia, stay there…no there!” “kiss one more time!”) – a few favorite images emerged. i am happy to have been able to take part in their engagement and wish them all the best for a happy wedding day in june!

february so far.

February 13, 2012

it’s cold, it’s dreary sometimes, but it is also the best time to hang indoors with friends, spend some time perfecting bowling “skills” and throwing back a few belgian beers. also, trying to get back into taking more pictures is easier said than done but here are a few recent ones.
